Beßt Examples

These example problems illustrate the power and robustness of Beßt.
A challenging surface
Beßt navigates this difficult, corrugated surface, where curved valleys cyclone in to the minimum. Compare Beßt solutions and progress against any other commercial package and method.

Extremely difficult, irregular surfaces
This surface has two opposite folds that meet at the minimum. Folded or dented surfaces are difficult in the extreme. Attempt this with alternative methods for comparison to Beßt.

Highly correlated parameters
Conversion ξ of a reactant in a 2nd order chemical reaction varies in time as follows:

ξ =           ko exp(-Ea/RT) Co t
            (1 + ko exp(-Ea/RT) Co t)

This problem is challenging and illustrative because the parameters ko and Ea are highly correlated. If the user were to linearize the analysis --as is widely practiced for equations and data that lend themselves to linearization, for lack of a Beßt nonlinear optimization solution -- users would obtain erroneous results, and especially for the highly sensitive activation energy parameter.
